Younus attends cricket's coaching course

Pakistan regular captain Younus Khan, who is currently on break from playing international cricket began a coaching course at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore. Khan turned up at the NCA to attend a Level 1 coaching course that is being conducted by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for aspiring coaches.

A PCB spokesman said that Younus will attend the proceedings of the course for full five days. The spokesman, however, declined to deluge any further information. The middle-order batsman opted out of the Test tour of New Zealand last month after leading Pakistan to a disappointing 1-2 defeat in the one-day series against New Zealand in Abu Dhabi. And with Younus' unavailability, the PCB was forced to continue with senior batsman Mohammad Yousuf as captain of a 16-man Test squad for Australia.

Younus, 32, last month however indicated that he would want to make his comeback on the tour of Australia. However, the selectors wanted Younus to appear in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy to prove his form and fitness.

This is for the first time that a player - who without retiring from cricket is attending a coaching course. Besides lectures, the participants will be trained in outdoor activities including batting, fielding, wicket keeping, physical training, net management and communication.
